It's Been A While! 2 years old!

Hudson,
It has been a while since I documented everything what you are doing, but that doesn't mean it is because you haven't changed. You are so much fun. You are talking so well. People are always surprised by your age when they hear you talk because you are so well-spoken. You articulate things well and most words are pretty clear. Now that you talk better, you are pretty bossy! You like to tell everybody what to do. I think you think it is your job to manage everybody around you. I guess being the first born it just comes naturally for you! Some funny little things you say "I wipe mommy's kisses off (you wipe my kisses off every single time you stinker!), "That's funny right there!", "That be fun mom!", "You okay momma?" You are very expressive and I love hearing what is on your mind.
Your imagination is growing each day too. Your newest thing is thinking you have some sort of special powers. You hold your arm straight out and "spray" (shoot) people. If a car is coming you always put your arm out and spray it. You will either just stare it down or tell it to turn. You will walk up to our car and turn it on. We will push the remote to make the lights flash or honk the horn but you don't know that. You honestly think that you are controlling the car. Sometimes you try your powers on people as they walk by...it doesn't really have the same results!
There have been some big changes around our house lately. The first thing is that you are going to be a big brother! We recently found out you are going to have a little brother. You like to say your brother's name and you seem pretty excited about having a baby around. I know you are going to be a great big brother. You are such a leader and I know that you will be showing him the ropes in no time. Another change is that you have a new room. We moved you to your big boy bed and new room to give your brother the crib. You were pretty excited about it at first but the last week or two have been pretty rough. You wake up a lot at night and your naps have been suffering. Hopefully you adjust soon!
Lately you have become attached to cars. You love the movie, the toys, everything! You love Lightning McQueen. Any red car is Lightning McQueen. You love to take all of your cars and drive them around. You like to drive them all over the walls in the house. The days have definitely started where it is not safe to walk around barefoot. There are always cars on the floor!
You are such a joy to be around. Your daddy and I love you so much and I am so thankful I get the opportunity to be your mommy. I love you baby boy!

19 months

Hudson,
You are now 19 months old! You are getting so big so fast! This month was a lot of fun. We spent lots of time with family and you learned new things.
New words: purple, yellow, Minnie (nana), door, bubble, right there, and again. You can repeat a lot of words that we ask you to say but they don't always sound like they should! These new words are ones that are easy to understand and you say them often.

What happened this month: The biggest event that happened this month was Christmas. You had so much fun and apparently you were on Santa's nice list because you made out pretty well. Santa brought you a rocking horse, tool set, and a couch just your size. You love your couch. If you get on it you start yelling movie. You love to lay on it and relax while watching your movie. You also love your rocking horse. The horse sings this song and you must play each time you ride. It probably gets played 250 times a day it seems!

Another love that you discovered this month was Christmas lights. We took you driving around town to see some lights and you absolutely loved it! One house in particular was playing music with their lights and you hung out the window and yelled out in excitement. We also took you to the Chickasha light festival. This place is special to your mom and dad. Your dad took me there for our first date. After you were bundled up you ran around so excited to see all of the lights around you. You also met Santa this month. You are not a fan of him yet. Maybe one day!

You are showing your silly side every day. You try to make people laugh and you show off a lot! You will spin in circles or fake laugh to get people to laugh at you. You love to go. If we say bye bye you run to the door saying go until we are in the car. Once you are in the car you like to talk. You just sit back there and jabber away. You love to make your frog noise. You do it most while you are in the car. You will make the noise and grin so big. You are pretty proud of that frog noise!
You love to have your back tickled. Sometimes when I go to get you out of your crib, you flop on your belly letting me know you want your back rubbed. You will lay there for a little bit while I tickle your back. It is so cute! Another funny thing you do is each time you sneeze, you sneeze at least twice. You have done this since you were two months old. It is the strangest thing but you think it is pretty funny!
You are definitely the sunshine to my day. There isn't a day that goes by that you don't make us smile and laugh out loud. You are such a joy to be around and I love you so so much!

Ups and Downs

Today was a day of ups and downs for me as a mom. Hudson is very fickle in his love for me during the morning hours. He prefers Daniel over me every single morning. If Daniel is holding him and I talk to him, he gets very upset and likes to tell me no. Basically, he is telling me to get lost! Today was no different. He wanted nothing to do with me. He cuddled with Daddy, but then Daddy left for work and Hudson lost it.
He eventually calmed down and since I was the only one around, I guess he figured I would do for a playing partner. We played cars for a while and played on my phone taking pictures. This is where the morning took a turn. We were on my iPhone playing with the camera and he could see himself and we were making silly faces and he loved it. He giggled and pointed to himself and had a great time. Until...my mom called. Once he couldn't see his face anymore he was furious! I picked up the phone and told him it was Momo and to tell her hi. (I thought this would make him happy since he loves Momo!) He continued to scream so I just began talking to my mom. I hadn't made it 20 seconds into the conversation when he grabs my hand and bites the fire out of my thumb. I am not exaggerating when I say I have never been bit this hard. There was a little blood and lots of throbbing. I was sooo angry! I couldn't believe that my precious baby would do such a thing to his mom out of anger. He, of course, was disciplined and made to tell me he was sorry. I made him kiss my thumb too. I then asked if he was going to be my sweet boy. His response? "No, no, no, no!" haha At least he is honest!
About 20 minutes later I am still thinking about the incident and feeling like a horrible mother. I would be lying if I said I had a perfect child.  He can be so hard. He can test my patience and make me want to pull my hair out. He loves to disobey and test his limits, as most toddlers do. He is definitely a little stinker! I was crying thinking I am failing as a mom because Hudson doesn't like me (not dramatic at all!). I was thinking that I wasn't disciplining him the right way because he is still acting out. I was just feeling very sorry for myself and wondering how I was going to help make him a sweeter, more obedient child. As I am feeling all of these things, Hudson begins spinning in circles about 15 feet in front of me. He suddenly stops, looks at me for a few moments, and then runs right over to me, gives me a big hug and lays his head on my shoulder for a few seconds. He gets up, gives me a kiss, and runs back to start spinning again. Now if I wasn't crying before, I really was now! He stops spinning and runs over and does it again! It was such a sweet moment.
This isn't one of those blog posts that talks about how perfect our day was and how perfect my child is. He is definitely not perfect! He is perfect for me though. Apparently I was lacking in patience before I had Hudson because I am having to work on having more every single day! Even though today started out really ugly, Hudson was able to show me in his own little way that he was sorry for his actions. The rest of the day was so much better and I didn't even get bit again!
My little stinker...disobeying!

NO!

Well, Hudson has officially learned to say "no!". The first time it just kind of came by accident. He yelled the two sounds together but he didn't really realize what he had said. I told Daniel that it wouldn't be long before he did it intentionally. Two days later, NO! was all he was saying. I asked Hudson if he was bored and he said "Nooooo." He smiled like that was the greatest thing he had ever said and continued to say it the rest of the afternoon. Right now, it is so stinkin' cute. I do realize that it will later be annoying, but I just want to enjoy the cuteness while it is still cute!

Here he is in action!
